St Marys is Open
By Nathan / 2 February 2016

Hello everyone,

Hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas and new year and are acclimatising well to daily life.

The start of the New Year has been filled with excitement and optimism but it is also tinged with disappointment. Our sister property Lendal Tower has stood as a city defence for hundreds of years however even the Tower was unable to protect itself from the unprecedented flooding that has recently hit the city of York. At its peak the river reached a height of around 5.4m which is around 3.8m higher than its normal level, to put that into perspective the average height of a double decker bus is around 4.1m. It is very difficult to withstand such an overwhelming body of water, however looking back we have been very fortunate and grateful that we were able to escape with the amount of damage we sustained.
This damage means that we have had to close the property for renovations which will continue towards the start of March, but this bad news has been lessened by the great news that 10 St Marys is officially OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

To mark the opening of the property our friends over at Lanor Productions have made a video showing the full transformation of the property from four bedsits to one grand property, which you can see below. They are also preparing our interactive virtual tour which will allow you to move your way around the property, preparing you for the real thing!

The renovation of 10 St Marys took around 10 Months from the initial planning stage to contractors leaving the property. It has been a lengthy process however we couldn’t be happier with the results.

With king sized beds, underfloor heating, dressing gowns and slippers we have tried to make the property as comfortable as possible for your stay and the 5 HD TV’s, games room and sauna will ensure that you are never bored.

The last few days were spent tying up loose ends and ensuring everything was in place by the time our deadline arrived which meant a few late nights and early mornings. The finished property is a testament to the power of coffee, however most of the plaudits have to go to the fantastic work the contractors have done who went above and beyond in helping to complete the property to a very high standard.

As we have reached the end of the project we would like to give a big thank you to everyone who has helped make the project a success, most notably our contractors Davric Construction and Lanor Productions.

We hope you all enjoy the property as much as we do.

Thanks

Nathan
